What does a Defaqto 5 Star Rating mean? Defaqto publishes an annual market report on many different financial subjects, including travel insurance. Within these reports, Defaqto uses a unique benchmarking tool, known as product data numerical analysis, in order to score each individual product for the quality of cover it offers across a wide range of product features and benefits. On the basis of these scores, products are given a ranking of between 1 star and 5 stars, and those that score in the top 10% are awarded 5 stars."
