Car hire price comparator is working with Insurance to offer customers protection against excess car hire charges

7 June 2007 -

Price comparison website has teamed up with leading online car hire excess insurer offer customers an affordable excess reimbursement insurance policy for leisure and business car rental.

The insurance policy costs £3.99 per day and offers full protection against the excess charges implemented by many car hire companies. In addition to covering the excess on general damage and theft, customers are also covered for damage to windows, tyres, the undercarriage and the roof - areas rarely covered in standard car hire insurance policies.

The policy is valid worldwide, and can be used with all car rental companies. It covers both the policy holder and all additional drivers, and the start date can be selected up to six months in advance. If the car is damaged or stolen, the cost of the excess will be reimbursed through a simple claims procedure when the customer returns home.

Carrentals marketing director Gareth Robinson commented: "Most rental companies charge an excess for any damage done to the car, but what many travellers don't know is that this generally doesn't cover items such as windows, tyres and the undercarriage - areas probably most prone to damage. As a result customers can receive a nasty surprise when their final credit card bill comes through after their holiday.

"By working with we are offering our customers the option to gain full protection on their car hire at an affordable price. The policy is valid worldwide, giving renters real peace of mind and ensuring their trips are free from aggravation and extra cost." compares car hire prices from over 40 different companies, including Opodo, Holiday Autos, EBookers and their own prices, in a single site.
